The FM-1600 is a remotely controlled two pole, eight
position fibre optic switch. Designed for use in FTIR spectroscopy, the
FPM-1600 enables the user to insert one of eight different sensors or optical
circuits between the optical source and the FTIR spectrometer.
The FPM-1600 switches both ends of the optical path
eliminating the spurious spectral distribution problems encountered when using
fibre optic bundle source distribution to the sensor array.
The FM-1600 is equipped with ST optical connectors and
may be used with any fibre type with core sizes ranging from 200 to 600
µm.
The unit contains no wavelength selective optical
components and therefore does not introduce spectral artifacts into the
measurement process. In order to minimise etalon interference effects, all
internal fibre endfaces are domed.
Operation of the FM-1600 Multiplexer may be accomplished
using the instrument's front panel keyboard, its standard Rs-232 port or the
optional Rs-422 or Rs-485 interfaces. When the optional Rs-485 interface is
used, up to 100 unique addresses may be assigned for controlling multiple
units.
