A simple window is a useful element for isolating areas of high
pressure, high temperature or contamination from other areas of a system.
Potassium Chloride (KCl) windows can be used for protecting focus
lenses from back-spatter or fumes from industrial cutting. Sapphire windows can
withstand enormous temperatures and pressures, as well as aggressive chemical
environments.
At non normal incidence Brewster windows introduce polarisation
effects useful in laser resonators.
In many situations where the incident light is incident at non
normal incidence focus shifts and lateral displacements can be introduced by
the window. Please ask for our freeware calculator programme that calculates
such displacements.
Additionally multiple internal reflections between the window
faces can give spurious effects. We can advise can advise on all aspects and
specifications of parts. |
